✦ Synopsis
Reinvestigation of the Ar 1048-1067 A photoelectron spectrum of NO2 using a completely NO-free sample suggests an upper limit for the adiabatic first ionization energy of this molecute consistent with tbe 9.75 aV photoionization value. The very low cross section process observed below 10.0 eV is interpreted by a mechanism involving autoionization followed by radiationless transition toward NOB ionic ground state.
