โฆ Synopsis
The synthesis of a branched benzoxazinophenothiazine heterocycle is describtid. The parent compound benzordfi,&?-benzoxazinoLj,2-&henothiazine (g), was obtained fran 2,3dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone (s), 2-aminophenol and 2-aninothiophenol. Monoaaa-, diaza-and triaza-analogues of this novel heterocycle were also synthesized. The parent compounds, 16-oxa-15-thia-4,5,lO-triazabenzo[~ entaphene 118) and 16-oxa-15-thia-4,5,10,14-tetraazabenzo P gpentaphene (z, R-q) were also synthesized as well as 4amino-16-oxa-1%thia-4,5,10,12,14-pentaazabenzor$pentaphene (24). They are intensely coloured high-melting solids suitable for application as pigments. Their ease of reduction with Na S 0 and the ready oxidation of the reduced canpounds to thz &fnoid f orms by atmospheric oxygen suggest their applicability also as vat dyes.
