## Abstract The drift of plastic envelopes floating close to the sea surface is related to the gradient wind. The results indicate that in westerly situations a shallow layer near the sea surface moves in approximately the same direction as the gradient wind with about 2 per cent of its velocity.

## Abstract Results of our recent investigation of spectral measurements of wind velocity in the surface layer are analysed in light of the hypothesis proposed by Kaimal __et al.__ (1972). It is confirmed that in the inertial subrange the spectra for all the three components and varying stability c
