✦ Synopsis
Using angle-resolved photoemission with synchrotron radiation, we have identified the molecular orbitals and the final state shape resonance behavior of CO adsorbed on clean and potassium promoted Ru(OOO1) ( BK = 0.33). Although vibrational spectroscopy and thermal desorption isotopic scrambling indicate severely weakened C-O bonds, we do not observe corresponding shifts in the shape resonance transition energy of the 40 level indicating that there is no simple relationship between bond length and shape resonance energy.
