β¦ Synopsis
The three-body problem with two heavy particles and a light one is considered. It is shown that the Faddeev-Lovelace equations can be simplified by using the eikonal approximation. Two coupled integral equations are obtained, the potential between the heavy particles being accounted for with the help of the distorted wave method.

The eikonal approximation is formulated by utilizing Feynman's path integral methods. By requiring conservation of energy, the direction of travel of a particle along the straight line path that it is assumed to take in the eikonal approximation is uniquely determined to be that of the average momen
