✦ Synopsis

The observation of the animal behaviour in a free environmental situation represents a particularly suitable experimental condition for investigating the orienting reflex, a component of which is represented by the exploratory behaviour (SoxoLov, 1963).

This aspect can be easily quantified by mean of a simple test, the "hole-board" (BOlSSIWg et al., 1964) consisting in a black painted board
