2-D numerical simulation was used to study the quench evolutions of high T c superconducting pancake coils made of BSCCO/Ag tape. The self-protection inductance, under which a pancake coil of persistent mode is able to be self-protective, was obtained for protection design. In a persistent LTS/HTS h
