โœฆ Synopsis

Three experimental investigations into one-dimensional wave propagation in liquid fluid&d beds are reported: dynamic wave velocity measurements under incipient fluidisation conditions confirm the predictions of a theoretical expression that has been successfully apdlied to fluidization stability studies; continuity wave velocity determinations confirm a long established relationship; and bed collapse experiments on bubbling liquid fluid&d beds lead to the evaluation of the dense phase void fraction and bubble hold-up.

The effects of solids density and void fraction on the bubble rise velocity of distorted spherical and circular-cap bubbles in two-and three-dimensional liquid-solid fluidixed beds have been examined. Specific gravities of the solid phase ranged from 1.02 to 2.50, and the equivalent bubble diameter

## Measurements of the visible bubble flow rate and the through-flow velocity of gas inside bubbles were made in a pressurized fluid&d bed, using capacitance and Pitot-static pressure probes, respectively. The influence of pressure and fluidiition velocity on the bubble behaviour and gas Row distr
