Abstract
The use of the argon laser in the treatment of the port wine stain is discussed and its mode of action and the features of a port wine stain, which may be used to predict a good response to therapy, are described.
Reference is made to the wide variation in techniques used in treatment in different centers and the need to establish precise physical parameters for therapy is stressed.
An attachment to the standard handpiece is described that will enable accurate power densities to be recorded.
