✦ Synopsis
An ESR study of @radiated sin_rle c.rystals of cyanoacotyl hydrazide indicates that the free radical formed is the corresponding hydrazyl (NCCH,CONNH,), in which a large fraction of UIC unpaired spin density is located on the a-nitiogcn atom.
Stable triaryl substituted hydrazyl free radicals R, -N, -Np '2s have been widely investigated by ESR spectroscopy both in solution and in the solid phase [l-3] . In these radicals the unpaired spin density is strongly delocalized over the @nitrogen (NJ and over the aromatic group Rl. In this paper ,we wish to describe the ESR spectrum of a .monosubsti?rted hydrazyl, cyanoacetyl hydrazyl NCCH,CON,-NpH2 in which a large fraction of the unpaired spin density resides on a Zp, orbital localized on N,. We have studied this radical in single crystais of cyanoacetyl hydrazide (NCCH2CGNHNH& y-irradiated at room temperature. The ESR spectra

## Abstract The ESR. spectrum of the relatively unstable radical anion of diphenylcyclo‐propenone (II) has been observed upon electrolytic reduction of II in __N__,__N__‐di‐methylformamide and 1,2‐dimethoxyethane. Simple MO models account well for the π‐spin distribution and for the restricted rota
I'be polycrystalline ESR spectrum of the SF5 radical has been observed in y-irradiated sulphur hesafluoride at -196' after annealïng the sample at -137' to remove the SF6 radical which is also produced by the ïrradiation. A satisfactory simulation of the highly anisotropic powder spectrum was achiev
