โฆ Synopsis
BNFL has successfully designed and is now operating a major cement encapsulation plant for treating Magnox Swarf, a reactive intermediate level waste. The quality of the product has been established by development work using a blast furnace slag/ordinary Portland cement matrix. The product stability is dominated by controlling the Magnox metal corrosion reaction by using a low water content grout and powders to a BNFL specification.
