β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Essential tremor (ET) is one of the most prevalent neurological disorders. At the same time, it is among the most poorlyβunderstood of these disorders. The underlying anatomical pathology of ET has been elusive until recently. Postmortem studies have begun to display some of the underlying brain changes in patients with this disease. These types of investigations are likely to lead the way to additional insights into the pathophysiology of ET and guide the development of therapies for this common movement disorder. ## Abstract Patients with essential tremor (ET) have kinetic arm tremor; this tremor can also have an intentional component. We are unaware of reports of intention tremor of the head in ET. Our aims were to describe, provide electrophysiological data and video documentation of, and estimate the pre
The effect of clonidine treatment (average dose 0.4 mgiday) was investigated in 10 patients with essential tremor in a double-blind placebo-controlled design. Tremor amplitude and frequency were recorded with a n accelerometer. Tremor was not significantly altered by clonidine therapy. Side ef-
We read with interest the recent article by Handforth and Martin, 1 "Pilot Efficacy and Tolerability: A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial of Levetiracetam for Essential Tremor." We also performed a pilot study of levetiracetam (LEV, Keppra) for essential tremor (ET) in 6 ET patients to assess its
## Abstract The presence of bilateral arm tremor is a key diagnostic feature of essential tremor (ET). We analyzed the presence of unilateral arm tremor in familial ET cohort of 133 autosomal dominant ET kindreds with 412 affected individuals. Inclusion criteria in patients with unilateral arm post
