✦ Synopsis

The elution centrifuge is a new development consisting of a high-speed centrifuge head that passes externally introduced fluids through fine tubes without the use of rotating seals. The elimination of the rotating seals allows an accurate flow through the feed tube under a high-feed prersurrb and preserves the narrow bands of t,he separated samples in passing through the negligibly small dead space of the return tube. Thus, the system is capable of elution and elutriation on both analytical and preparative scales. Among various potential applications, we report the results of countercurrent chromatography performed with our test system.

A new high-performance, compact table top coil planet centrifuge is introduced. The apparatus holds a long fine coiled column wound on a large diameter drum-shaped holder. Synchronous planetary motion of the holder not only allows continuous elution without the use of rotating seals, but also provid
