The photoelectron energy spectrum of benzene has been measured with monochromatic rarliation of wavelengths between 1253 and 584A. The first two ionization potentials are shown to be 9.25 and 12.5 eV. Explanations are given which account for previously observed structure lying between the first two ionization potentials. _ Photoelectron spectroscopy is an ideal tool
