โœฆ Synopsis

The spectroscopy of the basic analogs of phenylalanine and tyrosine has been studied in the gas phase in a supersonic jet using laser-induced fluorescence. There are six tyramine conformers. four phenethylamine conformers, and seven 4-methoxyphenethylamine conformers. Molecular mechanics calculations are used to deduce the most reasonable structures for these conformers. Dispersed emission spectra reveal that the major vibrational activity occurring in these molecules originates from the ring vibrational modes of their respective chromophores. The conformer fluorescence lifetimes of the three molecules were measured. All conformers of a given molecule have the same lifetime. ยฉ 1993 Academic Press. Inc.

Both fluorescence excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra of 2-aminobenzotrifluoride in a supersonic jet show quite extensive vibrational structure due to the CF,-torsional motion in the S, and So electronic states, respectively. This structure has been assigned and results in CF,-torsional po
