โœฆ Synopsis

The depolarization of p-nitrophenol at a rotating micro-cathode at different current densities and temperatures has been studied. The influence of acid strength and pH on the reduction has been investigated. Results obtained with a copper cathode and an amalgamated copper cathode are reported. The product isolated by carrying out macro-scale experiments has been confirmed as p-atmnophenol.

An account is given of new methods for the electrochemical preparation ofp-aminophenol by the reduction of nitrobenxene. It has been found that control of the electrode potential at a specific value using recently developed potentiostats brings about a marked improvement in the efficiency of the pre
