✦ Synopsis

The electrochemical oxidation of nitrite ion dissolved as sodium nitrite in dimethylsulphoxide on a rotating platinum disk electrode, in the temperature range 2544°C is reported. Main reaction products are NO*. NO, NiO. and dimethylsulphone. The anodic E/I curve shows a limiting current which is directly proportional to the nitrite-ion concentration. The anodic reaction under convectiveusion control is studied in this work.
