β¦ Synopsis
There have been relatively few studies on the anodic oxidation of thione compounds in view of the severe electrode f'dming which occurs with inch substances. However, the electrode reactions of cysteine and cystine have been investigated by several workers 1,2 and more recently, attention has been focussed on the electrochemical oxidation of thiopurines through the studies of Dryhurst 3'4. We have been interested in the oxidative pathways of a group of organic sulfur compounds based on 4-imidazoline-2-thione as the parent compound s,6 since many compounds of this structure are biologically important as anticarcinogens. This note describes our preliminary conclusions concerning the oxidation of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinethione CH3 CH 3
