graphs are of good quality although by compressing too many on to a page some do not adequately portray the features they are supposed to illustrate. As an example, the photographs of duroclarite and clarodurite in Figure 50, c andd, do not clearly show the maceral proportions which characterize these two microlithotypes.

The volume is bound between stout linen covers but at &24 is still fairly expensive by British standards and may be beyond the means of the average student.
