โœฆ Synopsis

The efficiency of a conventional silicon solar cell has been determined experimentally for two light sources: a tungsten-halogen lamp and a He Ne laser beam. On the basis of these results, the efficiency of the solar cell is estimated for another two light sources : first, a hypothetical light source where the intensity of the emitted light over the spectral range of 30(~1100 nm is constant and secondly for solar radiation. The results obtained show that the efficiency of the solar cell depends to a great extent upon the spectral distribution of the incident radiation.
