Hemoglobin compensation in the polychaete Neanthes arenaceodentata was induced experimentally by lowered dissolved oxygen concentrations under laboratory and field conditions. Hemoglobin concentrations were measured colorimetrically and compared to the C57BL/6 strain of the house mouse. Compensation
