✦ Synopsis

The effect of the amount and distribution of internal energy, deposited during the ionization ppcess, on the highenergy collision-induced (CID) spectrum of a commonly-used organic polymer additive has been compared for four different ionization techniques, electron ionization, chemical ionization, liquid secondary ion mass spectrometry and field desorption. The variation in relative yield of various fragment ions observed in the CID spectra are awnbed to differences in the internal energy transferred to the precursor ion during ionization.
