✦ Synopsis
Thirty-six different compounds were prepared by using SBR1502 type of styrene butadiene rubber and furnace carbon blacks as N220, N326, N330, N347, N550 and N660 according to a standard compounding formulation. The rheological properties of unvulcanized compound were measured, and then mechanical properties of vulcanized compounds as tensile strength, modulus at 300% elongation, elongation at break and hardness value were tested according with ASTM standards. The effect of the furnace carbon blacks on styrene butadiene rubber compound was investigated. The test results were analyzed to determine the suitable furnace carbon black types for styrene butadiene rubber.
