Photon absorptiometry provides an accurate measurement of bone mineral content. In acromegaly, the bone mineral content is normal, whereas the bone mineral content is reduced by acidosis. Decreased bone mineral content occurs in alcoholics due to osteomalacia and also in anticonvulsant therapy for t
