✦ Synopsis

and their responsibility for high risk populations. The last chapter, although very brief, is a useful outline of a model 20-hr. course on highway and non-highway accidents which could be given in the second or third year of medical training. It covers not only emergency care but human and environmental factors in the pre-injury, injury and post-injury phases. It should not be too much for current curriculum committees to consider such a course seriously in view of the fact that accidents and injuries are the most common cause of death among persons under 45 years, and are by far and away the leading cause of lost person-years of productive life.
