โฆ Synopsis
The climatic conditions of an orange grove near the sea were investigated. It was found that the concentration of windborne salt is considerable up to ca. 2,000 m from the seashore. Under such conditions, windbreaks seem effective in protecting citrus yields only up to 10 H (H = 8 m). The density of windbreaks thus required within a plantation would be such, as to make citrus production near the sea uneconomical.
