The esti~a~--ag.ant claims made by Steiiiacli ( '20) revived interest in both the clinical and hiologic phases of the problem. Hr maintained tlint vasectom--, o r ligation of the vas dcfcrens, al\va~--s leads to degeneration of the germinal epithelinm and liyprplasiw of the interstitial cells. Tlic increase in the number of interstitial cells Tt-as supposed to produce more tcsticular hormone, and so stimulate rejuvenation. Moore ( %), Moore anti Osluiid ( W ) , and Osluncl ( '24) have shown that vasevtomy of itself does iiot c'ausc degeneration of the scmiiiifcrous tissue.
