Ethylene, applied as ethephon, inhibited the elongation of etiolated, axillary potato shoots cultured in vitro and it stimulated radial growth along the whole length of these shoots . The same phenomena were observed when ACC, the precursor of ethylene, was added to the medium, whereas silver ions r
