Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the effect of the offset patch and layer misalignments on the broadband characteristics of a two‐layer, electromagnetically coupled, stacked patch antenna with airgap at the X‐band. Linear and angular displacements of the parasitic patch on the dielectric layer are considered for the experimental study. The measured results show very robust impedance characteristics of the proposed antenna element against layer misalignment. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The mutual coupling between cylindrical–rectangular microstrip patch antennas with a cylindrical superstrate is analyzed with the use of the conformal FDTD (CFDTD) method. The method is also applied to antennas mounted on flat structures for comparison. The effects of superstrate permit
