✦ Synopsis
Application. The terminal buds of Scots pine seedlings are susceptible to insect damage even late in the season when bud set seems to be completed. Because latent bud injuries cannot be detected visually, damaged seedlings cannot be culled in the spring before shoot elongation• When Lygus bugs are abundant, the seedlings in the nurseries should be protected throughout the growing season until the bugs migrate to hibernation sites in the autumn.
