Abstract
The effect of bursty IP traffic on the statistics of four‐wave mixing in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks is studied in terms of the distribution of the actual four‐wave mixing power under different IP traffic conditions. A novel approach for estimating the average four‐wave mixing power in WDM network with bursty IP traffic is presented. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
