Abstract
Electrocortical activity was recorded in encΓ©hale isolΓ© rats during injection of various dopaminergic compounds into the caudate nucleus. Slow waves and spindles were observed following injection of compounds with different mechanisms of action in stimulating the dopamine receptor. Some arylalkylamine analogues also induced similar electrocortical changes, whereas others were inactive. The possible dopamine agonist activities of these compounds are discussed. The results support an involvement of dopamine in the production of electrocortical slow waves and spindles.

Recent studies indicate that an increase in serotonergic (5-HT) activity in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) produces an increase in dopamine (DA) release, providing a possible mechanism for the involvement of DA in the therapeutic action of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants.
The effect of sertindole in models of mesolimbic dopamine excess in the rat was evaluated. Sertindole (0.0057-0.011 pmol/kg = 2.5-5 pg/kg, SC) and haloperidol (0.134.27 pmol/kg = 50-100 pg/kg, ip) inhibited the hyperactivity caused by the acute intra-accumbens injection of amphetamine (20 pg). ## Abstract In the present study, immunocytochemistry with an antiserum against dopamine (DA) revealed hitherto unknown terminal fields of DA axons in the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) of the rat. The innervation of all subdivisions of the LGN is achieved by a common set of afferent fibers that
We investigated whether the two output pathways of the striatum are differently affected by the novel atypical drug risperidone and the conventional typical antipsychotic drug haloperidol. To this end, changes in mRNA levels of preproenkephalin-A, preproenkephalin-B, and preprotachykinin were determ
