Abstract

The thermoelectric power in InSb at 300° K is measured as a function of pressure up to 16000 atmospheres. The experimental data obtained for n‐type samples is in good agreement with the KANE model of the conduction band; it also offers new evidence that ionized impurity scattering and optical mode scattering are dominant for electrons. It is shown that the results for p‐type InSb can be explained fairly by assuming that the effective mass of holes is equal to 0.42 m~0~ and that the dominant scattering is by optical phonons.
