The crystallographic and magnetic properties of Sm 2 Fe 14--x Co x Mn 3 with x ¼ 0, 1, 2, and 3 have been investigated using X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The Sm 2 Fe 14--x Co x Mn 3 samples crystallised in the rhombohedral Th 2 Zn 17 structure. The unit cell volume decreases with inc
