Abstract
In studies on the Rotter machine on the initiation of gritβcontaminated explosives by impact one can make use of the variable ΞΈ = 100 (FβF~min~)/F~max~ where F = figure of insensitiveness. A virtually linear relationship then exists between the grit content (C %) and the reciprocal (or logarithm) of ΞΈ.

## Abstract The effect of the initial particle size on the deflagration to detonation transition (DDT) of pressed, confined explosives has been studied. The explosives examined were ground tetryl, RDX, picric acid, waxed RDX, and waxed HMX. The ground tetryl was studied over the range of 61%β90% th
