โฆ Synopsis
The rates of absorption of various gases into turbulently stirred water have been measured, both with carefully cleaned surfaces and with surfaces covered with varying amounts of surface-active material. The diffusivities of hydrogen and helium in water have also been measured.
The rate of renewal of the surface and the dependence of the mass-transfer coefficient on the diffusivity have been evaluated from the experiments, and compared with the predictions of various theories.
