β¦ Synopsis
A systematic study of the weak link behavior for (Bi,Pb) 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O y (Bi-2223) polycrystalline samples has been done using the electrical resistivity and AC susceptibility techniques. In this project, we have prepared a series of Bi-2223 samples with different fractions of Bi-2212 phase and investigated its effect on the intergranular properties. It was found that the Bi-2212 phase exist within the grain boundaries, play a role of weak links and consequently reduces the intergranular coupling. Analysis of the temperature dependence of the AC susceptibility near the transition temperature (T c ) has been done employing BeanΓs critical state model. The observed variation of intergranular critical current densities (J c ) with temperature indicates that the J c decreases with the amount of Bi-2212 phase.
