Laboratory experiments were carried out to investigate the performance of an air-bubble barrier and to determine the oil volume passage rate through such a barrier under various oil sample, wind, wave and current conditions. Two empirical equations were derived based on the laboratory data. The firs

โฆ Synopsis
Values of sea surface albedo estimated from a 3-day data set agree reasonably well with the findings of Payne (1972). However, when an oil slick moved over the observational site, the value of albedo suddenly jumped to 0.57. The effect of turbidity on the albedo over a lake has already been reported .

Analytical solutions for oil spreading on the sea are deduced when the pollutant source fluctuates with time for a simple rectangular geometry. Both asymmetrical and symmetrical solutions in the direction perpendicular to the uniform tidal stream are derived. The asymmetrical solution, though ad hoc
## Abstract The wellโknown Rayleigh parameter, which characterizes the degree of roughness of a corrugated surface for the case of reflection on a rough surface, is extended to the reflection on a rough layer. An application to the forward radar propagation over oil slicks on sea surfaces, using th
We have investigated the effect of rotation on the polarization of scattered light for the near-Earth asteroid (1943) Anteros using the Dual Beam Imaging Polarimeter on the University of Hawaii's 2.2 m telescope. Anteros is an L-type asteroid that has not been previously observed polarimetrically. W
One of me consequences of aerosol generation from the sea surface consists of atmospheric contamination due to the transfer of marine pollutants into the air. Our preliminary investigation deals with the water-to-air transfer of anionic detergents from polluted sea surfaces in the presence of oil s
