A simple cnodel is proposed to analyze the effect of an external dislocation on the condition for complete fracture from a wedge shaped crack. The results are used to discuss the stability of two cop!anar wedge cracks and thereby substantiate the inferences drawn from an cartier approximate treatment of the problem.
