T'he rate comtant for attachment of electrons to SF6 NTIS measured -15 a function of the cIcc:tric field strcnfth in liquid argon and xenon. At higher field strengths a decrease in the rate of attachment occurs which is interpreted by means of the hot electron theory of Cohen and Lekner.

It is shown that in the cubic liquid crystalline blue phase I a given lattice orientation cannot be changed by electric fields up to 10" V cm-' because of the high stiffness of the BP I structure.
