The pax of partial differential equations conventionally used to descrrbe the dynanucal behavior of a porous catalyst pellet 1s approplate only m the hnutmg case when all pore diameters are small compared with mean free path lengths m the reactIon mutture It IS here shown that, at the opposite hnut, when all pores are large compared with mean free path lengths, tlus pau of equations must be replaced by three snnultaneous partial differential equations Quantitatively slgmficant dtfferences are found between the stablhty hrmts for steady states obtamed from the two sets of equations
