✦ Synopsis

Product Description

A new take on the classic fantasy action-adventure tales of old. There's a knight, a wizard, a damsel, a castle, and a magic sword. Only the tale is set in the here-and-now and also has GPS, machine-guns, helicopters, and black ops commandos. See what the world of heroes and villains looks like when set in the modern era. It's not your father's fantasy, but a new kind of modern fantasy. The Divine World is a supernatural action-adventure tale set in the modern era which mixes spell craft and high technology, machine guns and magic swords. Readers looking for a realistic entry into the world of the supernatural – a world where magic and monsters co-exist with modern times – will find The Divine World to be just what they are looking for in a thrilling story. The story follows the exploits of David Arris, a former US Army Green Beret, and his sidekick Gregoire LeComte, a former French Foreign Legion paratrooper, on their exploits through the realistic world of drug smuggling and covert military operations and meshes that with the paranormal world of wizardry. This story is set in the here and now, not in some medieval time period. The Divine World introduces Arris and Gregoire on a routine government sub-contracting job where the private military corporation they work for has lent them out to liaison with the US Drug Enforcement Agency to monitor a peculiar drug cartel’s Caribbean operation. Things go immediately wrong when the helicopter Arris is flying is shot out of the sky by the drug smugglers and he ditches in the ocean, only to wash ashore on an uncharted island. While on the island, Arris meets Konrad Onorien, a mysterious figure who lives in a mansion built into the side of a cliff. He also meets Onorien’s assistant, a young woman named Nereika who is descended from the remnants of the crew and β€œcargo” of a Dutch slave ship that sank offshore of the island 200 years earlier. From there on, the story takes off at an angle to reality, forcing Arris and Gregoire to adapt to their new situations. Included in the Kindle version is the original short story version, "Within the Prismatic Maelstrom," and the original television pilot episode adaptation of that story, "The Divine World: Within the Prismatic Maelstrom."
