โœฆ Synopsis

Direct observation

of the influcncc of so-called transient terms in the theory of diffusion-controlled reactions is reported for the fluorescence dewy of 3 quenched system. It is found that the dray Inw of the quenched system accurnrely rollows exp (-Af -Br I") as required by simple continuum theory. Values for the two adjustable partimetcrs, R' and D, the cncountcr distance and the sum of the dirfusion coefficients are obtained and compared with values ubrained from sready-stare mensurements.

Fluorescence quenching induced by electron transfer was studied by measuring the transient effect in decay curves and also the changes in stationary intensity with quencher concentration. The results were analyzed using the Collins-Kimball model of diffusion-controlled reactions, yielding the reacti

Excitation spectra of the total emission intensity of NO doped into solid and liquid argon and krypton are reported. The emission intensity decreases as the temperature of the triple point is approached and disappears during the solid-liquid transition. The quenching efficiency IS explained in terms

Visible fluorescence is produced using an argon-ion laser for excitation in sooting methane/air and methane/oxygen diffusion flames. This emission is attributed to small (two to four ring) polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, as suggested by previous studies. The key finding in the present investigatio

## Abstract In the study of interactions of blood with artificial surfaces, it is common practice to wet these surfaces with a saline solution before exposing them to blood. The effect of this procedure on subsequent adhesion of blood platelets has been investigated both theoretically and experimen
