Work on the rates of diffusion of urea through two different types of porous glass is reported and compared with data obtained using a commercial cellophane membrane from an artificial kidney. The results show that the rate of urea diffusion per unit area through the larger pored glass can be 3-4 times higher than through the cellophane membrane.
