Abstract
The fractal analysis and the cluster model of the polymer amorphous structure make it possible to account for a change in the diffusion coefficient in polyethylene both above and below the melting temperature. The proposed interpretation explains the diffusivity jump at the melting point as resulting from the disintegration of localβorder regions. The formation of these regions is due to polyethylene crystallization. Β© 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 92: 3761β3763, 2004

The effect of bonding temperature on the bonding strength of polyethylene to polypropylene or other polymers was investigated. It became clear that the interfacial bonding strength reached maximum strength at a bonding temperature in the vicinity of the melting point of the adherend (i.e., the polym
An in situ gravimetric technique, employing an electrobalance, is described for determining the solubility and diffusivity of gases in polymers over extended ranges of temperature and pressure. Solubilities of CO 2 in polystyrene at 35ΠC were measured as a test case; the results are in excellent agr
