✦ Synopsis

dedicated to professor hiroshi sato on the occasion of his 60th birthday

We determine the Green function on the modulo 5 Markov chain by considering the behavior of the difference (as an additive operator on the module) between letters. Moreover, we show that its Martin boundary is the pentakun. This extends the results obtained by Denker and Sato.

While 5a-and 5b-hydroxy 6-0~0 steroids undergo stereospecific photoisomerization, their bicyclic analogues give identical product mixtures on photolysis. This is attributed to equilibration of the intermediate acyl alkyl diradicals in the bicyclic case, which does not occur in the steroid case becau

## Abstract The stability of some Schiff‐bases formed between PLP and different amino acids has been investigated in a wide range of pH. The kinetic constants of formation of these compounds and their hydrolysis rate constants have been determined. Results show that the α‐position of the carboxyl g
