✦ Synopsis
Using superconducting Nb Ti magnets it is possible to generate fields up to 12 T maximum, if intrinsica/ly stable material is used, at 1.5 K. The filament diameters required to ensure intrinsic stable behaviour and their dependence on temperature are presented. A t the highest current density so far reached the maximum permissible diameters are 130 pm at4.2 K and 15 lun at 1.5 K.
