โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

This study describes a new strategy to improve the performance of PEMFCs by the addition of S/CNF. The presence of 2.08 vol.โ€% S/CNF increased the proton conductivity of a S/EPDM by one order of magnitude, which made it comparable to that of Nafionยฎ 117, and without creating an electronic path. Furthermore, the filled membranes showed improved thermal stability and mechanical properties.

## Abstract A new membrane material has been developed, based on a polysiloxane framework with functional proton conducting groups such as sulfonic acid and heterocyclic groups, e.g., imidazole and benzimidazole, covalently bonded at the siloxane backbone. Sulfonation of PEEK-WC powder (a glassy poly-ether ether ketone) has been performed at 80 โ€ข C for 3 h using H 2 SO 4 conc. (96%). The degree of sulfonation varied from 15 to 40%, depending on the reaction time. The sulfonated polymers (S-PEEK-WC) were used to prepare dense membranes for possible fue
