✦ Synopsis

An infrared method has been developed for the determination of the isotacticity of polypropylene in the 90-100~o range. The method requires the annealing of thin films a t 165-167°C. for 3 hr. in an inert at>mosphere, followed by slow cooling to room temperature. For approximate answers the ratio of the intensity of the 10.00 j~ band to that of the 10.27 p band can be reported as the fract, ion of isotactic material. Better results are obtained, however, by using Figure 2 as a calibration curve and reading the values from it.

In the present work we demonstrate that infrared absorption frequencies and band shapes of poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) homopolymers vary strongly with the type of spectra recorded. The reason is that, in general, any measured optical quantity, such as absorption, transmittance or reÑectance, is

## Abstract Infrared spectroscopy was used for the determination of the base‐pairing content of four specific tRNAs in deuterium oxide solution. Infrared spectra were obtained in the 1750–1550 cm^−1^ region at various temperatures ranging from about 15 to 90°C. Melting curves were constructed by pl

Attenuated total reflection-infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy and wide-angle x-ray diffraction (WAXD) were used to determine the macromolecular orientation of a series of six uniaxially oriented polypropylene sheets with elongations of 0% to 500%. The orientation functions were expressed as fractions o
