โฆ Synopsis
The Kjcldahl method for the determination of nitrogen is probably one of the most well establishedin the fields of both macro and micro organic analysis. There is, however, a minimum limit to which the method can be applicable, and the dcvclopmcnt of this sub-micro method was undertaken to extend the lower limits of determination without loss of general applicability and simplicity. Rcscarch studies in which small changes in nitrogen content are of paramount importance have been successfully carried out using the method described in this report. There arc numerous publications dealing with modifications of the Carlsbcrg methods' and sub-micro Kjeldahl detcrminations2, also adaptations using scaled tube digcstion3 and diffusion methods4. All of these methods, howcvcr, involve the USC of special equipment, arc time consuming, and are of specific rather than general application.
